Old fashioned romance

It's sad that I even have to include "old fashioned" in that. romance is NOT what it used to be. or even what it should be. when did it become ok for guys to stop asking girls on dates? i mean real dates, like dinner, a movie, dancing, ANYTHING that isn't "hey wanna come over and watch tv?" I found this on someone else's blog, but i like what she has to say about it:
Today we are so wrapped up in all the things going on with our lives, we sometimes forget to leave room for the people that are most important to us. We rely on communication through 160 character messages and visiting a friend who lives only an hour away can be done via a 45 minute Skype session. In fact communicating is SO fast and easy now that I feel as if it has kind of killed romance. Getting in touch with a loved one is possible any time of day and finding out exactly what they are doing and when is possible thanks to sites like Facebook. Nothing is left up to mystery anymore. This makes people more jealous than ever before which results in distrust and paranoia, both extremely unhealthy in relationships. In addition, an apology can simply be communicated through text as "Im sry :( Luv u." Is sincerity not even worth proper grammar and spelling these days? We could take some lessons from old fashioned romance, such as actually spending some time letting your significant other know how much they mean to you, not just when it is convenient, but daily. If you like someone, let them know. Ask them on a date. And if you hurt someone, show them that your sorry, don't just say it in a 4 word text that looks like a 4th grader typed it for you.

When did romance die? It would be such a nice change when a boy likes you to have them CALL YOU and invite you out to do something. not a text that says "hey wanna come over?" which is really code for "hey wanna come over because i hope that will lead to something else". When did guys forget that if you like a girl you ask her on a date? and if she accepts, you drive to her house to pick her up. and dont just honk your horn and let her run out to your car. GET OUT of your car and ring her doorbell (so much effort i know...) and a real gentleman? he will walk around the car and open the door for you. then comes dinner. or coffee. or something(!!!!) that allows you both to actually have a conversation (yes, it IS possible to talk to eachother without using text messages, shocker!) and get to know each other. and when you take her home, again you open her door for her and walk her to the door. this is where you kiss her. (depending on your "which date is acceptable for the first kiss" rule, which is a whole different topic...) but--sorry boys--its customary to at least have a first date before you kiss the girl you like. why do guys always want to skip all that and go straight for the intamacy? im not saying us girls are innocent of this either...we've allowed this to happen, guys think it's ok for a reason--because we've let them. but i'm sick of it. the 2nd sexiest thing about a guy? ROMANCE! (the first: his heart for God...the third: having a great sense of humor..the fourth: having amazing arms...) Am i the only one who misses having things done this proper way??
